We survived!! :)

Yes, it's true...we survived the wedding reception! lol I ended up NOT making the cakes. It was just going to be too much work since I was already doing most of the food too. So, my in-laws bought Peter and Sara two cakes, which were totally beautiful and delicious! MUCH better than what I would have been able to do...we're talking basket weaved frosting here folks ;) I do have some pictures to share with you to show off the spread that my mother-in-law and I came up with!

Here I am...working in the kitchen...all gross and sweaty looking :P

We have a family of skunks living under our back patio now! There are about 6 babies, and one mamma...they are TOO CUTE!!!! Here's a pic of one of the babies eating cat food:

This Friday, we are driving out to Oklahoma for a family birthday. Tim's grandma is turning 70, and Tim's Aunt Linda is turning 50! They are having a semi-formal, prom-themed birthday party :) I finally decided on what to wear...it was a hard decision. I didn't want to go out and buy something really fancy, so I found a $17 skirt at Marshall's and I'm pairing it with a velvety black blouse I already owned. Not too expensive, eh? ;) So, I really need to go off and pack now. I just wanted to give an update for anyone who might actually be reading this :P Have a great week!!!

Wedding Reception Time!!

I've been doing Google searches on wedding cakes, this morning. I'm supposed to make three smaller cakes for Peter and Sara's wedding reception...second wedding reception, actually...and I want to see if there are some easy ideas :) Wouldn't it be cool to do a cake like this artsy one??!!!! (I mean the first picture of the one she is working on) Oooo...and I found an awesome wedding ring site...I would love to have one of these funky rings!!! I want to check later and see if she has an actual website for her designs.

Anyhoo, so Peter, Sara and I are going shopping this Thursday night to buy the food for the reception. We are going to Costco...I had never been there before and went with them for the first time on Friday night! It's a pretty nifty place :) I'd been in Sam's before and was blown away by the bulk. The whole bulk vs. price thing throws me off. I think things are more expensive at Costco, but then I have to realize that it's because I'm buying more than one of that item, and if I do the math, it's actually a little cheaper than shopping at a regular grocery store. They have a lot of premade stuff that we will be able to just throw on a platter...I'd really like to save Peter and Sara some money and do most of the trays myself :)

We are having a great time with Hornby & Faith (my in-laws)!!!!! :) The kids are really enjoying having them here, that's for sure ;) I better scoot off and do some more cake research...toodles!

One more week!

Happy Monday everyone :) I'm babysitting Lynn's kiddos right now...actually, my kids are babysitting...they always enjoy playing with Lynn's kids ;) I accomplished a HUGE task last Wednesday! I got the toyroom turned into a bedroom for my in-laws to stay in! We still have toys in there of course...there isn't any where else for me to put them! Tim and I got Sara's old bed set up in there last night, and it looks great :) Sara is going to give me her old comforters so I'll have one for that bed. My to-do list is getting shorter each day! Tim's parents will be here this Saturday!!! We are all really excited about them coming. The last time they were here was Christmas 2000! They helped us move into this house in mid-December :) I'm working on a meal plan for while they are here. So far I have the first week's done, and just need to get week number two figured out. I'm not sure how much I'll actually be cooking for them that week. Tim is taking the first week off of work to spend here with them, and then Sara is taking the second week off and will be spending most of her time with them. They will be staying with us the whole time :)

Well, I feel like I'm rambling...I think I need some coffee!! I'm missing all of my graphics programs and Front Page! Tim reinstalled Windows on my computer this weekend, and we don't have everything back up and running yet. I'm going to ask him if I can install some things myself so he doesn't have to :) I might not be around much the next few days! I'll be finishing up the preparations for this Saturday, helping Sara with the menu for her wedding reception on June 21st, and I'm in charge of the crafts for VBS this year so I have planning to do for that...whew!..sound exhausting :P

Mmmm...uncooked chicken....

I figured I should post to say that we are all still here, just been busy! I just had a really frustrating thing happen to me...grrrr!! I put a chicken in the crock pot at 1:30pm and plugged it in. I then went upstairs to do some cleaning. It is now 3:30pm and I went to check on the chicken and guess what...I had plugged in the COFFEE MAKER instead of the CROCK POT!!! ACK!!! Now, dinner probably won't be ready on time :(

So, while the chicken wasn't cooking, I was sorting through storage boxes of old toys...it was kind of sad :( I was going through baby toys and toddler toys that I remember Josh and Abby playing with a lot. Some of them they will still enjoy, and the younger toys I am going to keep to bring out when we host Home Fellowship group here. It was all kind of depressing. On a happier note, I'm waiting for Sara to get here. We are going to Party City together to pick out some napkins, plates and serving trays for the late wedding reception that she and Peter are having on the 21st of June :) I get to help her with the cooking!!! I'm excited about it ;) I better scoot off and finish getting ready...she just called and will be here soon.
